Holy Land USA Renovation Project promises to resurrect landmark
An important tourist landmark may be brought back from beyond the brink of ruin, if the Renovation Project for Holy Land USA succeeds in its plans. The organization is working to clean up and restore the Waterbury, CT religious attraction to some of creator John Greco's original vision.
"The renovation and a revitalization project is currently progressing well," according to Jim Roy, Project Director. "Though the buildings of the villages are still in need of repair, they are now visible. Much of the land has been cleared this year. However, by this time next year, a good amount of work will be completed on the chapel and a number of the villages' buildings. We may even have a few surprises ready before Christmas."
Roy warns that "Because the villages are still in a deteriorated state, your associates may not be interested in visiting." He hopes in two to three years enough will be restored to warrant a public grand reopening.
For now, you may just have to take our deteriorated walking tour.
