John Glenn Home Becomes A Museum
After nearly a decade of work, the Depression-era boyhood home of John Glenn, restored to vintage austereness, has been opened as a museum to John Glenn in New Concord, OH. "I think of how proud my dad and mother would be with what their home is being used for," Glenn remarked, according to the Associated Press. The home is furnished with many pieces from the original Glenn home, and model airplanes -- like those Glenn built as a child -- hang in his bedroom. Glenn was the first American to orbit the Earth (1962), the world's oldest space traveler (age 77 in 1998), and a powerful U.S. Senator (1974-1998).
