Palace of Depression excavation and construction proceed

Since last year's Groundbreaking Ceremony in Vineland, NJ, George Daynor fans have eagerly awaited the rebirth of the Palace of Depression. Here's the latest report from Jeff Tirante (aka "The Jersey Devil"):

"We poured the 'footings' at the site, as well and have the main cellar/Devil's Den dug, and we begin building this Mon. June 17th." Local companies and individuals have volunteered materials and labor to recreate the fabled junk castle that was destroyed in the 1960s. Kevin Kirchner has been leading the restoration effort.

Jeff said "The big news is this -- Kevin was checking out the site this past Tuesday, and uncovered a slab of concrete that had inscribed '8/13/29' with a hand print on it!"
