Hermann the German overdue for 100 year tune-up

New Ulm, MN's Hermann the German statue has been taken down from his monument for a much needed repair and refurbishing. Hermann has towered over the town's memorial and automated glockenspiel array for 106 years. Metal workers will replace the missing helmet wing and plug up numerous bullet holes in his copper skin. The statue should be back in place in 2004 for New Ulm's 150th birthday.
