Moxie Bottle House will be preserved for future generations
Moxie soft drink fanatics in Union, Maine, hope to secure a permanent home for the Moxie Bottle House, a 32-ft. tall bottle-shaped trade show booth. They're betting that home will be on the Union Fairgrounds at the Matthews Museum of Maine Heritage. The teakwood structure will be reassembled inside a new building to protect it from the elements. Construction of the building and restoration of the Moxie Bottle House will take a few years.
Though Union is the original birthplace of Moxie "Nerve Food," Lisbon Falls, ME hosts the annual Moxie Festival, which attracted 25,000 Moxie Fans in 2002, and featured a model of the Bottle House pulled behind a car. Clark's Trading Post in Lincoln, NH exhibits a Moxie Horse Car (there are several, and they congregate in Lisbon Falls every July). The brackish and medicinal tasting Moxie is bottled today in Georgia.
