Packer Hall of Fame sheds gargantuan football player statue; local fan rescues #88
A local businessman has purchased the giant football player statue that stands outside the Packer Hall of Fame, Green Bay, WI. Since the HoF's planned new location wasn't the right environment for a leaping, 22-ft. tall receiver, the big guy had to find a new home. Steve Boyer paid $45,000 to acquire the statue, giant football base, and associated legal rights, so that it would not be removed from the city. He intends to find a suitable new home for it, perhaps a public park. His latest suggestion was a spot in front of the Neville Public Museum, which would benefit from the obvious attendance boost a giant sports statue generates. Boyer anticipates an official unveiling at the statue's new home, wherever that may be, by November 2003.
