Miraculous Virgin Mary Statue Falls on Cue, Another Stands Unscathed After Hellish Explosion
In New England, two Virgin Mary statues manifested two very different miracles, both considered clear affirmations of the intercession of a divine power, if you ask witnesses and believers.
On October 10, in East Boston, Massachusetts, parishioners of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church claimed to have witnessed a miracle. After the final mass of this church, which is being shuttered by the Roman Catholic diocese, the church's Virgin Mary statue tipped over and crashed to the floor near the altar -- apparently for no reason. Some mass attendees said it's a sign from God that the closing is a bad idea.
Three weeks earlier, on September 15, St. Mary's Church in Colchester, Connecticut, was completely leveled by a large propane tank explosion. The lone item left standing was... c'mon, guess now.... yes! A statue of the Virgin Mary. The blast could be heard two towns away, but the entrance courtyard Mary was undamaged. St. Mary's Reverend Kiril Manolev called it a miracle.
UPDATE: St. Mary's was completely rebuilt in 2006, with miracle Mary receiving a place of honor facing the parking lot.
