Makanda's Smiley Face Water Tower.

Dead US Senator Remembered with Smiley Face Water Tower

The Smiley Face water tower in Makanda, Illinois, underwent a recent facelift that included a salute to the late US Senator Paul Simon, who hailed from that town. The Buncombe Public Water District commemorated Simon by painting one of his signature bow ties under the grin, according to the Southern Illinoisan.
