"Paisano Pete" is the mascot of Fort Stockton and is located at a busy intersection. I recommend parking nearby and walking to the statue for photos. He has a new coat of paint and looks great!

[Lynn Thompson, 11/20/2014]- Fort Stockton, Texas - Paisano Pete
I visited Paisano Pete this week. Fort Stockton has banners throughout town suggesting you "Take a picture with the World's Largest Roadrunner." However, the official town brochure (rather reluctantly) admits that Paisano Pete is no longer the holder of this particular record.
While visiting Paisano Pete, I suggest a quick visit to the Visitor Center across the street, where they give out free Paisano Pete pins. I am glad to see the citizens of Fort Stockton are still proud enough of their non-record holding bird that they are providing tourists with free souvenirs to commemorate their visit.

The big roadrunner is the mascot of the town. His holiday hat and cape were stolen in 2013, but they appear to have been returned.
