I am an often visitor of the Apple Valley Dinosaurs. Unfortunately, little by little, these beautiful statues are starting to deteriorate. I am fascinated by these huge statues, made out of chicken wire steel rods and concrete! What once looked to be a miniature golf course is now a dino graveyard overrun with brush.
I have read what Gregory L. Wicker has written about when he helped build these creatures, but my question is: why? Was it for someone's children? Was Lonnie Coffman a dinosaur enthusiast? Would Mr. Wicker or anyone out there happen to have old pictures of how it all looked in its prime? I would love to hear how it all started and I'm sure anyone interested in going to see this attraction would be motivated by the history behind these cleverly built dinosaurs.

- Apple Valley, California - Cement Dinosaurs
Some poor misguided soul attempted to construct concrete dinosaurs. The decaying aftermath is not worth the trip to Apple Valley, but if you have to be there anyway . . .
[K. Ward, 09/07/2000] The Big Candy Apple stands out in front of the Cloverdale library on Cloverdale Blvd. It is part of the town's Cloverdale Sculpture Trail, which includes 18 various works. We were initially disappointed that it was not there to commemorate the world's first candy apple, or even the tragic candy apple massacre. But it's still a singular striking image. Though it is placed on a marble stone base, it might not be permanent, with the sculpture trail scheduled to be dismantled in April 2022. Let's hope they keep this one.

- Julian, California - Eagle Gold Mine Tour
California's second, forgotten gold rush took place here in the 1870s. This mine has been as an attraction since the 1960s. A hour-long underground tour takes you through its narrow tunnels, and there's a fake Boot Hill on the surface.

Fun to see the Lockeford Sausage Cow, but do yourself a favor and pick up some sausages. I love the apple and non-smoked Wisconsin.
