- Lexington, Kentucky - Huge Mortar and Pestle
This is now just a sad relic of what it was. It is a liquor store and not maintained well at all. Seems the demographics of the area have shifted and this great little icon shop didn't stand a chance. The giant Dixie cup up the road is still worth the trip, but this was just depressing now.
[Zreet, 01/16/2012] Closed down. The mortar and pestle structure is still there, but they blacked out the writing.
[Joe Randazzo, 10/05/2011]Bondurant's Pharmacy in Lexington, Kentucky is housed in a building shaped like a giant mortar and pestle. We learned of this place through the roadsideamerica.com tips and thought we should stop on our trip out to Wall Drug for good Karma. I don't have additional information on the building because the pharmacy was closed when I arrived on a Sunday afternoon.
[Greg Brown, 10/01/2001]Eric D. Brewer, Mgr. of the Bondurant Pharmacy, informs us of the following facts about the unique pharmacy created by Joseph A. Bondurant, RPh: 1) the building design is patented; 2) it was the first "Drive Thru" service in Lexington - of any kind; 3) the pharmacy has survived 26 years (and counting) as an Independently Owned Pharmacy; 4) employs a Drug Trievor to save space and time.
- Lexington, Kentucky - Huge Mortar and Pestle Pharmacy
This may not be the most thrilling of attractions, but for those who like buildings shaped like giant objects, it's a good one. There is a drugstore in Lexington, that is shaped like a huge mortar and pestle! I believe it is called Bondurant Pharmacy.

Perhaps if one needs an Rx for self-medication. Imperial Liquor is a name with possibilities, though... the pestle sphere could be painted as an Earth globe, and the mortar walls as the Roman Colosseum.
