The field has been filled with a walkway containing memorial bricks. There is a memorial to the firefighters who lost their lives on September 11. And the entire block is surrounded by normal-sized fire hydrants painted with the Dalmation spots.
Historic Crocket Street is only two blocks away and sports some pretty good night life.

Alfred E. Neuman maintains his vigil over a now-empty garage next to a local used car dealership. He's looking a little worn and needs a paint job, but considering the hurricanes he's been through recently, he's in pretty good shape.
[Rustin LaFurney, 12/25/2021]He's still here, as he has been for all of my 44 years. Ken's Muffler Shop is no more. The business is now "Drive Away Motors," and I fear for the Muffler Man's future.
[Jesse, 04/04/2018]Still looking happy -- and actually holding a muffler.
[Roger Sleight, 12/31/2014]Of course he's happy; he's doing what he was born to do.
