- Luling, Texas - Watermelon Thump and Water Tower
The Thump is the last weekend in June. It runs Thursday thru Sunday. The parade is on Saturday and is pretty well organized. The food and entertainment are good, but you have to eat at City Market (whether you are there for the Thump or not).
The speed spitting contests are fun to watch in The Spitway.
[Steve VanderMeulen, 09/21/2016] This attraction is just so Texas! Luling (pronounced Loo-Ling) is a small town, and the water tower is only 7 minutes off the highway. Best pictures can be taken behind the police station. The people there were very friendly, and I felt so at home when I was there!
[Ben Perdue, 08/18/2015]We couldn't find a closer place to see the tower than the police station. There is a great fair the last weekend of June with tons of rides! Great for kids.
