Bily Clocks Museum
Spillville, Iowa
In the northeastern corner of Iowa, the locals love their clocks. Bily (bee-lee) Clocks occupies an old brick front residence in downtown Spillville. The clocks' creators, long-dead bachelor brothers Frank and Joseph Bily, carved clocks every winter for over 50 years -- 1913-1958 -- when they weren't being tidy, thrifty Bohemian Czech farmers. Most of the clocks are huge, and fully animated with wooden figures and built-in music boxes.
The first floor of the museum is geared toward antique-ers and weekend furniture buffs. The second floor displays local oddities such as a two-headed pig in a jar.
