Paul Bunyan's Grave

Field review by the editors.

Kelliher, Minnesota

We can't recall another mythical person that has a grave, but Paul Bunyan does.

His final resting place -- a very, very long grass-covered mound -- is in Paul Bunyan Memorial Park. The well-worn headstone, eroded by the touch of thousands of Bunyan pilgrims (and the bite of dozens of Minnesota winters) reads, "Here Lies Paul And That's All." It records that America's most famous woodsman was 99 years old when he died in 1893.

A pine tree, growing next to the headstone, shelters the grave -- proof that Paul is dead? He would have snapped it off for a toothpick if he were still alive.
