James Dean Gallery

Field review by the editors.

Fairmount, Indiana

Fairmount, the boyhood home of Hollywood legend James Dean, is the site of his grave and an annual fan festival. David Loehr, originally from New York, was so devoted to Dean that moved to Fairmount along with his archive of Dean memorabilia. He later moved the collection to next-door-neighbor Gas City, out by the interstate, but after a few years of that he returned himself and his artifacts to Fairmount.

The gallery features what may be the world's largest collection of James Dean collectibles, and curator Loehr provides a free map to the cemetery where James Dean is buried.
