James Dean Gallery
Fairmount, Indiana
Fairmount is the site of James Dean's grave, some Dean attractions, and an annual fan festival. But lately the town seems as interested in promoting its other famous son, cartoonist Jim "Garfield" Davis.
The town has a museum and archive devoted to Dean, that moved to next-door-neighbor Gas City out by the interstate, then returned to Fairmount. It houses the "World's Largest Collection of James Dean Memorabilia," including his high school basketball photos, a section of the fence from "Rebel Without a Cause," an entire room devoted to Dean collectibles, and a replica of his death car.
Curator David Loehr provides a free map to the cemetery where James Dean is buried and other James Dean Sights.
