Weasels Playing Pool (Gone)
Sugarcreek, Ohio
The weasels are part of the White Fawn Wildlife Display in the Bed and Breakfast Barn. In the heart of Amish country (drive carefully among the horse buggies), this building used to be a cheese house, then it was a barn, now it's a unique bed and breakfast with dead animals in the basement.
Most visitors arrive to stay overnight and enjoy the local antiques and shopping; few seek out just the subterranean taxidermy. But the B and B owners and manager are friendly and may let you take a peek if you ask permission.
The two pool-playing weasels are the only animals that appear to be having any fun; the other dioramas are in fake natural settings. There are deer (including a small herd of albino deer, with red marble eyes), small woodland creatures, and a large buffalo in a pen.
The collection at the Bed & Breakfast Barns faces the challenges we've seen at other basement museums, but we don't mind the spongy carpeting, visible wires and pipes on the ceiling, nor the humidity from the washer/dryer activity alongside the displays.
