Tiny Church - The Traveler's Chapel

A Lincoln Log version of a church, awesomely rustic, the Traveler's Chapel is adjacent to a convenience store parking lot. A narrow, elevated wooden walkway leads to the door. The inside walls are covered with Bible verses scrawled on bits of plywood.

In an unusual departure from run-of-the-mill tiny churches, there are no pews -- just a padded piece of wood for kneeling in front of a floor-to-ceiling cross.

The chapel is no longer inviting public access.

Address:: Hwy 127, Nashville, IL
Directions:: South of I-64 at Hwy 127. On the east side of the road a hundred yards or so south of the Interstate, next to the Little Nashville mini-mart.
Hours:: Aug. 2010: Access blocked, visible over fence. Local health policies may affect hours and access.
