Lauterbach Tire Muffler Man
Springfield, Illinois
Type: Bunyan
Arm position: Standard
Accessories: Tire
This original International Fiberglass lumberjack was purchased in the mid-1960s to advertise Springfield's Midtown Tire Service. Several years later, the business shuttered and the fiberglass figure moved on to Farmersville to the Roundup Cafe. By 1978, the newly dubbed "Lauterbach Giant" was back in Springfield hawking tires again. His head was blown off by a tornado in 2006, but the locally-famous "Lauterbach Giant" was quickly re-capitated.
