Half-Size Eiffel Tower, 2/3-Size Arc De Triomphe
Las Vegas, Nevada
Francophile shutterbugs may have a difficult time snapping shots of the big arch, as it stands in the middle of the check-in circle for the Paris Las Vegas Hotel-Casino, and there's no place to stand or park without getting some airport shuttle driver angry (good news: they didn't curse us in French).
The Eiffel Tower is more camera-friendly, and at nearly 500 feet tall it is the largest one of many Tower replicas across the U.S. It's half the size of Gustave Eiffel's original, erected in Paris for an 1889 World's Fair, the Exposition Universelle.
The Vegas Eiffel Tower merits a snapshot in any tour of the city's ridiculous replica landmarks (along with the Statue of Liberty, Luxor pyramid, and Sphinx). Or ride an elevator to the top and take pictures of people on the ground taking pictures of you. The view is cheaper, more interesting (you're right above the Bellagio Fountains), and more time-friendly than a ride on the High Roller wheel up the street.
Bonus: in February 2019 the Eiffel Tower was outfitted with hundreds of colored lights and strobes. Every evening from sunset to midnight the tower blinks, twinkles, and color-shifts in a fast-paced Vegas-worthy light show -- no doubt calculated to distract tourists from the color-shifting Bellagio fountain show across the street.
