Muffler Man: Phillips 66 Cowboy (The Captain)

First reported in 1999 to RoadsideAmerica.com as in front of Jones Brake & Muffler and/or somewhere along US Hwy 441 in Douglas, Georgia, the giant fiberglass figure was actually near Gray, Georgia, on Hwy 129 assuming the role of "The Captain" and sporting a yachting cap. When that business closed, he was banished to nearby woods on the property, ~2010.

He was rediscovered there in 2024 by Dave Distler, disassembled and rotting. He also found the hat (a cut down cowboy hat) and the Phillips 66 logo under a layer of paint with an anchor.

American Giants moved and restored the statue to his pre-captain state, and installed him at the American Giants Museum in July 2025.

Directions:: American Giants Museum. I-55 exit 140. Drive west into town. At the stop sign turn right onto SW Arch St. You'll soon see the Hot Dog Muffler Man on the left, and a half-block beyond it, on the right, is the Phillips 66 Cowboy outside the American Giants Museum.
