Mr Potato Head Ambassador (Gone)

Field review by the editors.

West Springfield, Massachusetts

Back in 2000, Rhode Island created 37 Mr. Potato Head statues and scattered them around as the state's "official family-travel ambassador" (Mr. Potato Head was invented at the Rhode Island-based Hasbro Toy Company). In the universe of community art statue projects, Mr. Potato Head was one of the quirkiest. Today only a half-dozen of the spunky spuds survive, and this particular one is the only one that somehow escaped to another state, making it still more of an oddity.

(It was reported among the missing in June 2011)
