Giant Armadillo

Field review by the editors.

Schertz, Texas

Bussey's Flea Market is a sprawling scene of outdoor tables and indoor booths, close to New Braunfels and San Antonio. Travelers on I-35 can easily spot its mascot, a large fiberglass armadillo at the front of the parking lot. It's been there for decades.

The armadillo is behind the property fence, and the flea market only operates on Saturdays and Sundays. We came by during the week and noticed the gate was open (the office allowing merchants access is open during weekdays), so you may be able to pull in and ask for permission to snap your photos.

We can't vouch for the flea market itself, but the statue is well kept and ready for photo ops.
