Auto Parts Family and "The Muffler Man"
Electric City, Washington
We spotted this self-titled "Muffler Man" and a half-dozen exhaust system siblings as we drove south out of Electric City on Highway 155. They were clustered in a pile of hoses, oil-changing apparatus, and half-rusted junk piled outside of a lonely muffler shop, close enough to the road to be seen easily by eyes accustomed to noticing such creatures.
We've documented bigger, slicker, better-preserved examples of anthropomorphic car part art, but something about this isolated group was endearing. That, and the handwritten assertion that this, of all possible claimants, was truly "The Muffler Man."
