Marker: Uncle Tom's Cabin Site
Paint Lick, Kentucky
A banged-up old historical marker explains that the plantation mansion of Uncle Tom's master, which was torn down in 1926, was a mile down the road. "Legendary cabin of Uncle Tom was behind the mansion." The marker also notes that the book Uncle Tom's Cabin, which condemned slavery, produced "deep resentment in the South." The cabin is long gone, and only the marker remains.
