The Molecular Dog
Winter Park, Florida
Miami sculptor Robert Chambers designed a five-foot-tall, eight-foot-long bronze "dog" that is in fact the 3-carbon molecule structure for Propane. Chambers is a big believer in liquefied petroleum gas -- clean, colorless, odorless, and less expensive than gasoline -- and The Molecular Dog was his way of calling attention to its environmentally-friendly qualities.
If only all of ecology (and chemistry) could be designed as something that resembles a kiddie birthday balloon animal, we'd live in a better world, and no American would fear science class again.
