Smallest Church in America
Townsend, Georgia
Called the "Smallest Church in America" on its ample signage, the Memory Park Christ Chapel began life in 1950. The all-hours traveler chapel is 10 ft. x 15 ft., with pews for twelve people, and a compact pulpit for a minister.
Grocer Agnes Harper built the church, and wrote its deed in the name of Jesus Christ. It is open to all denominations.
On Nov 28, 2015, the church was gutted by an arson fire. It was rebuilt and reopened on April 8, 2017.
