Transparent Woman - Valeda
Hinsdale, Illinois
Valeda, the anatomical transparent woman, is well known in these parts of Illinois. At the Robert Crown Center for Health Education, the clear-skinned plastic figure stands in a stage-like area, ready to educate fifth and sixth graders about body systems and reproductive organs. Sure, there's a bit of commotion when Valeda's breasts light up instructively, but it's solid medical knowledge that can't help but benefit the next generation.
According to the Robert Crown Center for Health Education: "Valeda is alive and kicking. We welcome walk-ins to the center during our hours of operation, 8:30 am - 4 pm. However, serving students is our first priority. That means that some classrooms, including Valeda's auditorium, may be in use for health programs, during which time the rooms are not accessible to the public. It is safest to call ahead and request a tour, and we'll accommodate visitors between classes at a time that is convenient for them."
