Religious Beginnings Mural
Steubenville, Ohio
St. John Neumann, a good 40 feet tall, bestows supersized blessings on those who park at St. Peter's Church in downtown Steubenville. He lived at the church in 1841, but wasn't canonized for another 136 years. Still, having a future saint in your town is mural-worthy, even if he was around for only one year.
Giant Dominican nuns are another feature of this mural, painted as part of Steubenville's "City of Murals" makeover in the late 1980s. The artwork has faded considerably since then, and in a few more decades it may give off a ghostly Turin Shroud vibe that may not be entirely inappropriate.
