The Coolidge Tree: More than a Name

A surprising number of trees have been named for Presidents, but most are lame claims-to-fame. Aside from the name, the Presidents themselves usually have nothing to do with the trees. Not this one. A little plaque set into the ground at the base of this tree's trunk documents that both President and First Lady Coolidge stood right here when The Coolidge Tree was planted on the Fourth of July, 1926.
It was his birthday.
