Jerry's Classic Cars and Collectibles Museum
Pottsville, Pennsylvania
According to packrats Jerry and Janet Enders, they didn't set out to open a museum. They just wanted a place big enough to store all of their stuff and work on their old cars. So when an old Studebaker dealership opened up, they bought it and moved in their treasures -- and only later opened it to the curious public in 1996, adding a second floor two years later.
Jerry and Janet mostly focus on the 1950s and '60s. Over 20,000 items are on display, including a soda fountain countertop embedded with 5,300 pennies, the ringside bell from the community center boxing ring where Muhammad Ali started his boxing career, and Jerry's elementary school safety patrol badge. Also here: salvaged relics from a barbershop, a hat shop, a bandstand, a car parts store, an appliance store, and a drive-in movie theater.
