Marker: Death by UFO?

Field review by the editors.

Franklin, Kentucky

Just a historical marker with the bland title, "Captain Thomas F. Mantell Jr." The good part is buried in the text: "...died in plane crash near this site... Mantell's death while chasing UFO made headlines... Intense military investigation of the incident... it is still uncertain what Mantell was pursuing at the time of the crash."

Pilot error or death ray? It happened on January 7, 1948.
