Roller Coaster Atop a Casino
Las Vegas, Nevada
You might find yourself on the Las Vegas Strip wondering who gets to ride the roller coaster that weaves among the faux skyscrapers atop the New York New York casino. In fact, anyone can, as long as they're at least 54 inches tall. You board the ride in a fake subway station, and it lasts a little under three minutes. The ride tops out at 203 feet, hits 67 mph, and includes loops and a barrel roll (Renting a locker is recommended, otherwise your valuables might fly away). It was built in 1996 for a reported $25 million. For several hundred dollars you can get married on the roller coaster, minister included.
In 2018 New York New York added VR headsets to its roller coaster, apparently because riding a roller coaster through a fake New York City atop a Las Vegas casino just wasn't enough.
