Log Cabin Atop a Silo

Farmer Rusty Combs had an old corn silo, 50 feet high, and thought it would be fun to put a playhouse atop it for his sons. But he never got around to it, and it wasn't until his granddaughter was born in 2011 that he was motivated to tackle the project.

The completed cabin, 12 x 12 feet, was hoisted into place in September 2013. It has a porch, lights, running water, and air conditioning, and can only be reached by a series of four ladders inside the locked silo. Taking into account its restricted access and wide field of view, it would also make an excellent survival cabin for a zombie apocalypse.

Directions:: I-71 exit 18. Turn south onto KY-393. Drive a half-mile. Turn left onto Elder Park Rd. You'll see the silo ahead on the left.
