Cherokee Reservation Craft Shop.

Chief Henry Profile Sign (Gone)

Field review by the editors.

Cherokee, North Carolina

The Cherokee Reservation Craft Shop may no longer be in business (we never seem to find anyone there) or just hibernating. But that's not the fault of its sign, a hand-painted profile of the unmistakable Chief Henry, "World's Most Photographed Indian." Chief Henry plied his trade in downtown Cherokee as a living photo-op for over 50 years until his death in 2007. His image is on snapshots across the globe, so it's good to see one in Cherokee, too.
