Space-Station-Theme Electronics Store (Closed)
Webster, Texas
Fry's Electronics is a chain of gadget-and-electronics warehouse stores that features offbeat design themes at many of its locations, including an Egyptian tomb and an alien invasion. The proximity of this store to Space Center Houston suggests why Fry's has spacecraft hanging above its merchandise.
Filling much of the ceiling is a replica of the International Space Station and its widespread solar array. There's a Russian Soyuz supply capsule, and a couple of versions of the X-38, a prototype escape pod/supply shuttle for the ISS that was scrapped by the Bush 43 administration during its NASA budget purge. At floor-level, Fry's home theater and audio rooms are inside a replica ISS module, as is the in-store cafe.
