Muffler Man, 2014.

Glenn Goode's Hatless Muffler Man (In Transition)

Field review by the editors.

Gainesville, Texas

Type: Cowboy (21 ft. tall)

Arm position: Right arm waving, left arm down

Accessories: Stetson Hat (not displayed)

A line of five fiberglass giants stands in front of a sandblasting business in northern Texas. This one joined the crew in 2014.

Glenn told us he'd spent a year working on what might be his final Muffler Man, identical to his Cowboy Man, sans Stetson. He planned to make a new figure, but "I didn't have nobody to help me," so halfway through the project he cannibalized the molds into the torso and legs. The new M-Man stands with the rest now, a little work still needed on the shoes. Glenn made a cowboy hat for it but decided to leave it off.

Glenn passed away in March 2015.
