The Crawford Collection: Taxidermy
Frederick, Oklahoma
The Crawford family made their money in banking and real estate, and shot animals with guns. Over 200 of their trophy-worthy kills are on display at the Crawford Collection, which opened to the public in 2001 when the Crawfords ran out of room in their various houses, cabins, offices, and storerooms. It's in a windowless building on Frederick's downtown Main Street, with a bronze plaque dedicating it to education and the preservation of wildlife. There's a statue of an upright Grizzly Bear outside, and a stuffed nine-foot-tall Alaskan Brown Bear inside (named Charlie). Also on display: lions, a bull elephant, rhino, python, giraffe, etc.
