9/11 Memorial: Twin Towers Fountain

Field review by the editors.

Dodge City, Kansas

Dedicated on the one-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Liberty Garden features a pair of 110-inch replicas of the 110-story World Trade Center towers, each rising out of a reflecting pool (This part of the memorial loses some of its effect when the pools are drained in winter).

Other elements of the memorial: a 1,200-pound chunk of rusty Ground Zero steel, a rock from the Flight 93 crash site in a clear plexiglass box, and a chunk of the Pentagon, which didn't arrive until 2006, in a pentagon-shaped clear plexiglass box.
