Museum of the American Revolution
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
There's more theatrical staging than artifacts in this museum, which is understandable given the age of most of its relics. Kudos to the exhibit designers for doing their best to make George Washington's Tent seem exciting. More satisfying is the fake bronze statue of King George III posed with a dummy Patriot holding a coiled rope, ready to lasso the King and tear him down by his neck. That actually happened in New York City at the start of the Revolution (The bronze was melted down and turned into anti-British weapons).
In the gift shop: George Washington's Tent refrigerator magnets and Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death tea mugs.
