The Witch House
Salem, Massachusetts
Painted black and steeply roofed, this 17th century dwelling certainly looks as if a witch might have lived in it. The house was actually the home of Jonathan Corwin, one of the judges overseeing Salem's infamous 1692 witch trials.
Tour guides lead you through. The Witch House is mostly a historical home -- old furniture, tools, cookware, medical supplies, etc. -- but also features displays about the trials, and during October the line outside can stretch around the block. It can be a two-hour wait to get in.
Those without patience can simply pose next to the "Witch House" sign out front.
