(Not) Devil Horns Hand; I Love You Hand
Columbia, South Carolina
Unveiled in October 2019, "I Love You" is a four-foot-high hand made out of hundreds of smaller hands that were traced and then cut out of steel. With with the pinkie and forefinger raised, thumb extended, it makes the American Sign Language sign for "I Love You," and was created by artist Bob Doster working with students from the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind.
The hand is in the same position used by Spider-Man when he shoots a web, but Spidey's hand would be red, not silver. And some people confuse the hand with the "Hand Horns" frequently seen at rock concerts -- and associated by the fearful with demonic Satanism -- but that hand sign doesn't extend the thumb.
