Min-Aqua Bats Water Ski Mural

Field review by the editors.

Minocqua, Wisconsin

This wall-length outdoor mural, based on a 1958 photo, pays tribute to the "Min-Aqua Bats: The Nation's First Amateur Water Ski Show." They still performs just down the street every summer in Minocqua.

The mural took two years for Joan Christgau to paint and was completed in July 2017. It depicts five female Min-Aqua Bats, wearing aqua-ballerina tutus, water skiing in a kind of chorus kick line -- a watery mix of athleticism, balance, and nerves-of-steel.

Most towns wish they had people as mural-worthy as the Min-Aqua Bats.
