Statue of the Coffee Lady

Field review by the editors.

Sumas, Washington

Carved out of a log, the Coffee Lady formerly stood atop the sign for the Miner's Lady Coffee House. Wearing a bonnet, apron, red dress, and heavy boots, the smiling lady holds a coffee pot and mug, apparently ready for the arrival of her coffee-drinking miner man.

When the Coffee House closed in 2019 the Coffee Lady was hoisted off of her perch by a crane and then moved to her current ground-level spot. A flood in November 2021 briefly floated her away, but by June 2023 she had been restored and was firmly grounded again.
