Created in 2013 by artist Thomas Morgan, "Polypus" (Latin for octopus) bursts out of the top and sides of an old three-story downtown Canton building. Tentacles -- made of foam and steel -- jut out of the roof and upstairs windows, while other windows are filled with glimpses of the giant beast's suckers and malevolent eyes.

The local arts council, which supported the project, claims that Polypus has "changed the landscape of downtown forever," although no other monsters have surfaced in Canton since this one.
