Theodore Roosevelt on Horseback
Oyster Bay, New York
Dressed in his Rough Rider outfit, Roosevelt sits vigilant aboard his trusty steed, Texas, in a small park that doubles as a road median. The equestrian statue, a copy of one sculpted in 1922 by Alexander Phimister Proctor, was originally placed in front of the local Boys and Girls Club in 2005. It was transferred a short distance to its current location in 2010, from which TR welcomes visitors to his home town, and overlooks a gas station.
Despite occasional depictions of Ronald Reagan on horseback, Teddy Roosevelt was America's last bronze military equestrian President. Bully!
