Mama Mimi: Giant Troll
Wilson, Wyoming
Mama Mimi sits and smiles, one leg extended to serve as a pedestrian bridge across a little creek. She was built out of used pallets and other scavenged items in May 2021 by Thomas Dambo, a Scandinavian artist who has built other giant trolls in Kentucky, Colorado, and Illinois. Mama Mimi, however, is the first to play with the idea of a "bridge troll" by turning a troll into a bridge. The creek beneath her leg is shallow, so a tumble into the water shouldn't be too calamitous.
Mama Mimi's necklace is made of stones and rope; her hair is driftwood roots. Dambo's trolls typically last about five years, but Mama Mimi may survive longer than that. She was built strong enough to be moose-proof.
