Flossy: Tooth Fairy Bull

Durham has been known as "Bull City" since the late 1800s, when it was the hometown of Bull Durham tobacco. Durham dentist Debora Bolton Stamatakis thought that combining the bull with a tooth fairy would make a good symbol for her practice, so she commissioned artist Matt Tomko to create one. What he came up with is a bull with wings wearing a fanciful crown, ballerina shoes, and a tutu, and painted in the blue and orange colors of the city's Durham Bulls minor league baseball team. The bull was placed outside the dentist office in 2018, and named "Flossy."
