Pumpkin Eater: A concept that perhaps hasn't aged well.
Enchanted Forest
Old Forge, New York
Enchanted Forest opened in 1956 as a fairytale park. It was the brainchild of A. Richard Cohen, who sent his wife and daughter to other, similar, parks to steal ideas. The crazy fairytale buildings and characters were designed by Russell Patterson, a former Roaring Twenties glamour illustrator known for early comic strips such as "Pin-up Girls" and "Get-Your-Man Gloria." He also helped to design the uniform for the WACs of World War II, and was a judge for both the Miss America and Miss Universe pageants.
Patterson died in 1977, the same year that Cohen sold the park. It added water slides in 1984, then in 1998 changed its name to Enchanted Forest Water Safari. Nowadays it barely mentions the fairytale part of the park, but the old displays are still there.
