Mr. Rogers Statue
Winter Park, Florida
Fred McFeely Rogers graduated from Rollins College in 1951 with a degree in music composition (He was also president of the French Club). Rogers went on to create, produce, and host the TV show Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, achieving immortality as a friend to children and a likable guy.
Although Rogers died in 2003, Rollins College didn't want people to forget its link to someone so beloved and famous. So in 2021, 70 years after Rogers' graduation, it unveiled "A Beautiful Day for a Neighbor," a seven-foot-tall statue of Rogers surrounded by a group of enraptured children. Rogers, wearing his signature TV cardigan and sneakers, is entertaining the kids with his Daniel Tiger hand puppet, while the statue's base features more of his puppet characters and the trolley that connected Rogers' TV house to his happy world of make-believe.
